Riverdale Elementary Community Council Meeting Minutes

Riverdale Elementary Community Council Meeting: Tuesday, Nov. 12, 6:00 – 7:00 pm (Google Meet: meet.google.com/ksu-gskm-tio)

Brian welcomed all members.

Review and approve the minutes from prior meeting

Mrs. Thomas showed the previous meeting notes and asked if members had questions. Motioned was approved by Mike Jasper and second by Camee Ellis .

Mrs. Thomas discussed that the Title 1 School plan and the 66% goal of making typical or above growth. We made that last year but at the time of the goal we didn’t know where we ended. 

Mrs. Thomas discussed out Tier 1 tracker and behavior incentive we are doing across the school and the impacts it has had on behavior. This had to do with the possible extra funds we might get for community council in the upcoming year

Review the Title 1 School Plan

Mrs. Thomas discussed the Title 1 School and the goals associated with the plan. 

She explained the funding associated to the Title 1 Plan and the reason behind the funding. 

Mrs. Thomas asked if there was any questions about the Title 1 plan. A question was about about free and reduced lunch. We are sitting around 52% right now.

All members have a copy of the School LAND trust plan. 

Overview the implementation of the Teacher and Student Success Plan (TSSA)

The TSSA plan was explained for the grants attached to the goals.


She also explained the co-teaching model attached to one of the goals of increasing Math Proficiency in RISE testing by 3%. 


A question came up about the TSSA plan and if we will still get the money in the future from the state. She said that it is a state funded cost and we got this during COVID and

Principal report on the status of the Membership Form that needs to be submitted on the School LAND Trust Website

Your name, email and what position you hold for being on the community council. They talked about having an email “buzz” word. 


Cami went to a training put on by the state. She talked about some suggestions on how to avoid scammers. Mrs. Thomas said she would look into tech to get a universal email to avoid this. She let them know that she only sends agendas a week out early and if she needs something more important she would call. 

Jen will get the slides form Cami and send them to the council members. 

Assign a council member to work with the school webmaster to ensure the following items are found on the school website.  

  • Council member names with a direct email, phone number, or both (The school email or phone numbers are not acceptable for parent members.)
  • Proposed meeting schedule for the school year
  • Approved council minutes for at least a year
  • Teacher and Student Success Plan or link to the Plan
  •  Invitation for parents to serve on the Council
  • The following may be provided by posting specific links for each to the School LAND Trust website documents/information or copies on the website
    • Current year School LAND Trust Plan
    • Final Reports for at least the prior two years
    • Funding the school receives from the Program
  • If a district has in place a process for electronic voting, the website will include directions for electronic voting to elect parents for the school community council

Review priorities for the year and timelines (Jan. 7th).

Jen discussed that the Jan. meeting will include a digital media presentation and a discussion of the plans for the next School Land Trust plan.
